As we inch closer to the end of the week it’s time to bring you a review of the stories we couldn’t cover with a look at what is going on in the world of APIs.

For organizations interested in tracking user behavior, including conversions and certain actions taken on a website, Optimizely has updated their Event API to allow for more control over its experiments. The Event API allows businesses to track offline conversions such as direct mail, phone, or in-person and see how they are affected as a result of experiments done online. One example would be if a company made their customer support number more prominent on their website; the API could measure the effects of this experiment by linking it to a collection of offline experiment data, such as phone call conversions tracked by third-party software. Interested developers can view the documentation for more information.

MeaningCloud, a company specializing in semantic analysis software has released two new APIs in beta. The first is the Summarization API which allows users to summarize a document’s meaning by extracting its most relevant sentences. The second is the Document Structure Analysis API which extracts different sections of a document or email with markup content allowing users to generate a document outline.

Lastly comes news that Voximplant, a cloud communications platform built for web and mobile app developers, has announced the availability of its new SDK with support for voice and video calls within the Safari 11 web browser. Apple’s recent release of Safari 11 includes support for WebRTC and this SDK now lets developers build for that browser as well as Firefox and Chrome.
